Children of Lake Keowee attend the schools of the Pickens County School District. The District serves five distinct areas: Dacusville, Daniel, Easley, Liberty, and Pickens. There are five high schools, sixteen elementary schools and five middle schools. In addition, the District provides an Adult Learning Center, Parenting & Family Literacy Program and an Alternative Education Center. The District has won a number of awards including a Technology Innovative Programs Award and an AdvancED District Accreditation award.
Three higher educational institutions are located within 20 miles of Lake Keowee, including Clemson University, South Wesleyan University, and Tri-County Technical College. Clemson University is a four year university that offers degrees in a variety of academic disciplines. Golf enthusiasts will want to head out to the Keowee Key Golf and Country Club for a few rounds out on the links. A pristine course with 18 defying holes, this fine challenge is a favorite among golfers in Lake Keowee. In addition, the club features tennis courts, a fitness center, a lavish country club, a leisure trail, pools, boating and a residence center. The golf course also holds lessons for golfers, as well as a pro shop.
The Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course at The Reserve is considered a golfer's masterpiece. This 18-hole course winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and down to Lake Keowee to create a scenic and challenging run. This course is recommended for both advanced and beginning golfers.
